On Saturday the U14 Boys had Division 4 cup quarter final against Lucan Sarsfields in Rivervalley. The monsoon conditions meant the grass pitch became unplayable, thankfully a last minute change to the all-weather pitch meant the game could go ahead.
The visitors made the better start and took an early lead, it was obvious the home side had a big test on their hands. There were some excellent scores from both sides early on especially given the conditions and the supporters were treated to a great game of hurling.
As the first half drew to a close the St. Finian's boys had weathered the storm in every sense, and were growing into the game.
As the second half commenced again the visitors pegged on a few scores, however this ignited the home side and they rallied. A huge effort defensively built the foundation and coupled with some great transitions and goals at key stages the home side prevailed and can now look forward to a semi-final. 👏👏
Huge thanks to Lucan for accommodating the later start, and for serving up a excellent game of hurling which brought out the best in the lads.
