Well there’s been much talk this week about the big St.Finians V Fingallians match this weekend taking place in TUI Blanchardstown tomorrow.
The U8 boys also had a derby clash this morning, this one was away to Fingallians on their Kettles Lane pitch. While there was no TDs or a Mayor to be seen at this match, there’s always a great buzz about the local derby matches between these two teams at all levels and ages. A pre-match talk from coach David not to chit-chat with their school pals on the opposite team and to stay focused on the game but also reminding the boys to enjoy the match, listen to their coaches and referee and remember the skills they practiced in training. Rob and Cillian told their team at half-time to run for the sliotar, aim to be to the sliotar first so you have more time for pick-up or striking. Roger and Johnny’s team were told to use their bodies and strength to make space for pick-ups.
The boys are great for listening to these little nuggets and putting them into practice when the match restarts. They are also making great improvement in shaking off their injuries and continuing play. Great striking, scoring, blocking, frees and puck-outs. Well done boys 👏
The U8 Boys team and coaches send their very best wishes to the St.Finian’s Adult Ladies for their match tomorrow against Fingallians in the Junior C Championship Finals. Come on Finians 💪🏐
