U14 Boys Match Report

Russell Park was the venue on a crisp but sunny October afternoon for the Div 4 Hurling Cup semi-final, as the boys travelled to St. Brigids on Saturday looking forward to the latest step on their championship journey.

Anticipation had been building and the lads knew a big performance was needed against a well organised and tough Brigids side. πŸ’ͺπŸ‘

Right from the off though, it was apparent the Finians boys were right on form, fiercely contesting every ball, working tirelessly for each other and driving forward at every opportunity. The boys got into a nice rhythm and started to put a few points on the board, however a Brigids goal kept the game tight. As half time approached however a goal for the visitors meant St. Finian’s went into half time with their noses in front.

With the wind in their backs for the second half the message was clear, a strong third quarter was essential. The boys duly delivered and continued where they had left off with some fine scoring and wonderful passages of free flowing hurling.

St. Brigids fought to the end, however the Finians lads managed to put a bit of daylight between themselves and their opponents, and finished strong to book their place in the final on November 4th. πŸ‘πŸ‘

Thanks to Brigids for a great contest.
