St Finians men's first team travelled to Balbriggan to face O'Dwyers in their first AFL division 4 game of the season on Sunday.
A weather interrupted pre-season was not ideal preparation for what was expected to be a very close encounter.
And so it turned out! The first half ebbed and flowed, with both teams taking the lead at various times and finishing with the scores locked at 0-4 each.
The second half amounted to a titanic struggle. The key moment of the game came when Cian Mc Cabe dropped a speculative effort towards the goal and the ball
ended up in the back of the net. St Finians kicked on from this, points from James Doyle and all star Andy Mallon stretched their lead to 3.
O'Dwyers, to their credit, fought back closing the gap to a single point, but eventually, after what seemed like an eternity of injury time the referee finally blew for
full-time leaving the score, O'Dwyers 0-12 St Finians 1-10.
Well done to all the players involved who put in a massive effort to get those valuable 2 points
Thanks ,as always, to the great number of supporters who came out to cheer on the lads
