LThe 2nd team hosted Beann Eadair Howth on the Rivervalley all weather pitch in what is believed to have been the first adult hurling match between the clubs in over 30 years. Exchanges were evenly matched in the early stages until Niall O'Connor with an overhead flick hit the back of the net from an Ian Moriarty centre gave Finians the initiative. Barry Kavanagh then struck for a goal before half time.
Beann Eadair got themselves back into match though with good scores and at half time Finians led by 2 points on a 2-7 to 1-8 scoreline with the fear that this lead would not be be enough given Finians were playing into a strong wind in the 2nd half. Jack Murray & Johnny O'Flaherty were introduced at half time and both made an impact on the score board in the 2nd Half. James Burke led the attack well throughout and with Conor Collier,James Elder, Evan Murray & Matthew Deegan giving Finians a foothold also in the middle third of the pitch, Finians pushed into a 4 point lead early in the 2nd half. However, Beann Eadair aided by the wind continued to pick off scores and the teams were level enterering the last 5 minutes and the Finians backs were under pressure against the breeze. Daragh Callinan anchored the defence well at full back and with George Kennedy & Josh Ralph defending well St Finians held strong at the back in the closing stages. Matthew Deegan had huge impact in the closing stages running at the Beann Eadair backs and it was a late goal from a ground stroke shot from Johnny O'Flaherty that provided the match winning score. The final score was 3-15 to 2-14 in favour of St Finians
