🌟Adult Hurling Reports- MENS 1 AND 2🌟

By Gene Griffin

The first team travelled to Clonsaugh to take on Craobh Ciaran. Despite the recent wet weather, the pitch was in excellent condition but conditions for hurling were still difficult owing to a very strong wind.

St Finians playing against the wind were under pressure in the 1st half with Craobh Chiaran scoring 2 goals by the mid point of the 1st half. MJ Feehan & Conor Halpin started to carry a threat in the full forward line with MJ cutting in along the endline to strike a point and then a Conor Halpin goal before half time meant St Finians trailed by just 3 points at half time.

This was a good half time position with the wind to be to the aid of St Finians in the 2nd half. St Finians had plenty of possession in the early stages of the 2nd half but initially were slow to make it count on the scoreboard. Team captain Mattie Murray was becoming more influential at midfield & after he struck an excellent long range point, St Finians starting to pick off scores. In the final quarter MJ Feehan & Adam O'Shaughnessy struck a goal each securing the league points for St Finians on a 3-8 to 2-5 scoreline. 2 wins from 3 matches in the league with Ballyboden St Enda's the next opposition in 2 weeks time in Ridgewood

3-8 was also the match winning score in the afternoon 2nd team match but unfortunately it was the opposition who secured it and the league points. St Sylvesters with the aid of the wind struck for 2 early goals. St Finians worked hard to get back into the match and with Mikey Gormally striking several points & Johny O'Flaherty who was also on football duty in the morning kicking a point over bar for the adult hurlers in the afternoon, St Finians looked to be in a good position to win the match when they levelled the match with 5 mins to go. However, 2 late points and a goal from a penalty saw Sylvesters run out 3-8 to 0-13 winners.
