The 2nd adult hurling team made the short trip to Collinstown in AHL10 on Friday to play Na Fianna. The team was weakened by the absence of midfielder Conor Collier through injury but boosted by the return of Fintan Merriman & David Murnane for their first games of the season. James Burke led the attack well from centre forward from the start and at full forward Paddy Hattie was causing problems for the opposition winning 3 frees all converted by Alan Lawton. The half time score line was 0-7 each. It was a tale of 2 penalties in the 2nd half. Alan Lawton finished a penalty for Finians after Paddy Hattie was fouled and Na Fianna converted a penalty also. The game looked to be slipping away from St Finians when Na Fianna edged into a 1 point lead with 3 minutes left. However, St Finians finished in strong fashion - Alan Lawton levelled the match with a free and Matthew Deegan then edged Finians in front with a fine point. Immediately afterwards James Elder attacking up the field from the wing back position struck a fine goal to ensure the victory for St Finians on 2-12 to 1-11 scoreline. Another feature of the match was Sean Morton making his adult hurling debut for St Finians. Next match is on Thursday 2nd May v Na Gaeil Eireachi
