After weeks of anticipation, Feile weekend finally arrived!

The Under 15 B team were on the road to Castleknock for their group games, with matches against Castleknock, Ranelagh Gaels and Ballyboden St Enda's to look forward to.

With Castleknock hosting two groups, it meant that there was an early start. There was a 7:30 meetup for the redeye (a.k.a. Niamh from Airside Coaches), but spirits were high on the way to the venue.

Upon arriving, we were greeted with Somerton looking magnificent and thankfully the weather had changed to a balmy 15 degrees.

After some quick final preparations, it was time for the Parade. The girls showed their colours with pride as they marched to our National Anthem.

With the formalities out of the way, it was finally time to take to the pitch. First up was a tough game against the hosts, Castleknock. In what was a titanic tussle, the girls scrapped for every ball and covered every blade of grass. Unfortunately, we came out on the wrong side of the scoreline.

On to the next match, and the girls knew that a defeat here would spell the end of their chances of making it through to the semi-finals. This time the opponents were Ranelagh Gaels who had come down from a higher division for the Feile. However, they responded magnificently and quickly established a lead which they held till half-time. Knowing that Ranelagh would throw everything at them in the second half, the girls had to dig deep but held on for a famous victory.

After a short break, and time to take in some of the amenities in Somerton, the girls were back for their final group game. It was a high stakes, winner takes all game against Ballyboden. Trailing by 2 points at half-time, we were well in the game. Despite throwing everything at Boden in the second half, we couldn't quite reel them in.

The girls were disappointed, but the mood improved slightly when we were brought into the clubhouse to be fed and watered. Some tasty Chicken Fillet Rolls helped improve things also.

We departed Somerton on the coach and the sound of music coming from the back of the bus told us that despite the results, the girls were still in good spirits. :)
