U15B Girls Camogie

The weather in March left the U15B camogie team with some back games to play and in a triumph over logistical challenges we managed to welcome St. Vincent’s to River Valley last Wednesday evening for a much anticipated clash. St. Vincent’s, fresh from a successful outing at Féile, were a strong presence and immediately started on the offensive. The Finians girls responded with strength and purpose and were determined to give their opponents a battle. Bolstered by some incredibly talented players from the U13 and U14’s, Finians began the scoring and were focused entirely on retaining possession of the ball and finding the net. Entering the second half with a good advantage, The girls set to work on defending well and taking every opportunity at goal- their perseverance was rewarded with a comfortable win against Vincent’s adding to our points on the league table. 💪💪

Saturday afternoon the U15B girls travelled to picturesque Marlay Park for a scheduled game against Ballinteer St John’s. Struggling with numbers due to family confirmations, we could only field 12 players and again relied on the assistance of the U13 and U14’s and were very grateful for the huge impact they had on the game.

The sun was extremely strong as we began our warmup and from the first throw in the girls were clearly focused and worked incredibly hard as a team. Aware of how important it was to get an early advantage over Ballinteer, the girls defended meticulously and drove the ball up to the midfielders and beyond - the goals came early and in quick succession. By halftime, Finians were leading comfortably as Ballinteer struggled to retain the ball and break through our defence. Some changes to our lineup were made during the much needed water breaks, and with the players settled into their new positions, the second half resumed. The support on the sideline was rousing as the girls never lost their strength or energy despite leading by a large margin. This was an incredibly exciting game to watch and the Finians girls were well rewarded for their efforts with an excellent win leaving us currently second on the league table. 👏👏

Well done to all the players who showed up and worked so hard to win two matches this week - The coaches are extremely proud of your efforts and teamwork. Keep up the good work!
