The U13 A & B teams both crossed the M50 today to meet their opponents as they continued in their league endeavours. The sun was out and the heat was on as the division 1 football match was played on the host team Ballyboden St Enda’s turf while the division 8 girls travelled to Hunters Run Park for their meeting with Erin Go Bragh.
The division 1 girls’ athleticism and resolve ensured a gripping game from start to finish. Travelling to Ballyboden more in expectation than hope, we welcomed back from injury our goalkeeper Abigail O’Neill, who sprayed the ball from kick-outs like she hadn’t missed a game. A delayed start on a warm afternoon didn’t affect us too much and the young ladies took an early lead with a couple of goals and a few points. Well in control, we changed things up at the start of the second half bringing our county standard full back Orlaith Rooney into midfield. Orlaith, Layla and Katelynn’s driving runs resulted in some excellent scores. Goals from Holy Family’s championship winning captain Katelynn Wilson-Daniel & our marauding half back Rebecca Bailey, sandwiched a wonder point from speedster left half back Alex Keogh. The girls ran them self into the ground for the victory and we headed back north of the Liffey with two well deserved points. 🏐🏐👏👏
Meanwhile, over at Hunters Run Park the heat didn’t diminish the determination of the division 8 girls who, despite a slow start, grew from strength to strength as the scores kept coming throughout the second half. A few injuries and hard tackles challenged us but we persevered. There were some amazing displays of skill and agility showcased today and the coaches were incredibly proud of the comradeship and team work which led to the girls winning the game comfortably. Special mention to Olivia and Naoise who were the recipients of the trophies for today.🏐🏐👏👏
Congratulations to all the girls who participated and contributed tirelessly to the games today.💪💪
