U13s division 4 football league match with Ballyboden St. Enda’s on Thursday
I feel it in my fingers, I feel it in my toes! Oh boy did it rain!!! There was no sign of Marti Pellow but it was Wet Wet Wet out in Cherryfield as our u13s boys paddled along the M50 to take on Ballyboden St. Enda’s in their first football league match of the new season.
A foray into a new division could have proved to be a sweet little mystery but all we could ask was for the boys to try, try, try! And try they did as their little angel eyes set me on fire! From the throw in, both sides put on an excellent display of skill, grit & determination in adverse conditions. With a raucous atmosphere on the side line, our boys played some composed football coupled with some excellent saves by our keeper Riain to take a lead into the half time break.
Facing a 2nd half uphill into heavy rain, you might have thought this could be a daunting task but one look is all it took and 10 minutes into the half, I remember that sweet surrender. Our boys kicked on, took their love & promises and made them last to run out worthy winners on the day. 👏👏
A special thank you to all the parents & family who popped in souled out to support the boys on the night & also a number of players who through injury or illness could not play but still turned up to cheer the team on.
