Our 2nd adult hurling team team travelled to Oldtown tonight to take on the Wild Geese in AHL10. Missing a number of players through injury and exams, the team was boosted by the return of Karl Martin from injury and the injection of youth in the form of Eoin Ryan who was prominent thoughout at left half back on his adult hurling debut.
Team captain Stephen Donnelly was energetic at midfield and the experienced quartet of Barry Kavanagh, Ciaran Groves, Johnny Walsh and Karl Martin combined well to produce good first half scores to see Finians lead 2-7 to 0-7 at half time.
Early 2nd half goals put Finians in a very strong position but the Wild Geese rallied with good scores. However, with Shane Murphy and James Quigley strong in defence, and Warren Hanley on his introduction winning possession and making good use of it, Finians pushed on to record a good win. 👏👏
Next match is Friday 24th June v Na Fianna in Ridgewood at 730pm - all support welcome.
