U13 division 5 hurling league match with Kilmacud Crokes on Thursday 23rd June

Well, since my baby left me, well I found a new place to dwell, well it's down at the end of Mount Anville Road at Hurlinggggggg Hotel.

Our u13 boys racked up their frequent flyer miles as they felt so lonely baby heading over to take on Kilmacud Crokes in their next hurling league match. The boys met a determined Croke’s team in a physical first half. It felt like we were caught in a trap, we couldn’t walk out but the boys kept up to the task as they loved us too much baby. No quarter was given & both teams definitely didn’t love me tender, love me true as they strived for all their dreams fulfilled.

Half time approached & the boys needed to gather themselves to take the battle to the opposition in the ghetto (in the ghetto). On a balmy June evening, the mentors realised that a little less conversation, a little more action was required. Coach Aoife stepped up and said Come on, baby, I'm tired of talking, grab your helmets & let’s start hurling. Come on, come on (come on, come on)

Wise men say, only fools rush in but that didn’t stop the boys from matching their opponents in skill, effort & aggression as they tackled like a hound dog throughout the 2nd half. The coaches were in love & all shook up by the sheer will of the boys as they refused to take a step back. Our back line continued their stubborn resistance, blocked, batted, pulled, caught, jab lifted the sliotar & returned to sender, address unknown.

The final whistle blown. Our boys could rest without suspicious minds as they knew they had given their all. A loss for our boys but it speaks volumes as to how they lost. They walked off the pitch with their heads held high knowing they have earned the right to challenge at this level.

A quick recovery before we step on Erin’s Isles blue suede shoes this Saturday for our next football league match.
