St Finians vs Craobh Chiarain – U13’s Hurling
I'm hurling in the rain
Just hurling in the rain
What a glorious feelin'
I'm happy again!
On what turned out to be a magnificent weekend for St. Finian’s GAA, our u13s marched into the pantheon that is Ridgewood Juvenile pitch to take on Craobh Chiarain in a fight to the death as two giants of the modern game clashed in the penultimate hurling match of the campaign. 💪💪
The first 5 minutes was a cagey affair as both teams got to grips with each other before a dark cloud appeared overhead, threatening to spoil a gripping fixture. The heavens opened & a deluge ensued. A number of questions immediately arose – why did I wear shorts? Why didn’t I bring a hat? Can mentor Warren swim? As parents scrambled for cover, we put water wings on mentor Warren and he paddled off happily down the side line. In spite of the conditions, both teams battled gamely & the half time approached with a lead for St Finians. ☔️☔️
The weather conditions improved & our boys took to the field in a determined mood for the 2nd half. They then proceeded to put on possibly their best hurling display to date as they púc’d, hand passed, cut & pulled their way towards the final whistle. In a great team performance, there was a number of scorers and our boys ran out worthy winners. 👏👏
A massive thanks to all of the support on the side line & an even bigger congratulations to the juvenile teams & adult men’s team who won their respective semi-finals over the weekend. A quick look at St Finian’s social media posts shows boys & girls at all levels having a great weekend so congratulations to all!
P.s it was too wet for photos so we had to improvise with our mentors 🤣🤣
