Our St Finians 2009 Girls (U14s) took 3 days out over the weekend for some fun and team building at the Delphi Adventure Resort in Connemara Co Galway. 29 girls and 3 mentors had an early start at Heuston Station on Friday morning for the long trip down. 5 hours and 10kg of jellies, chocolate and taytos later our detox began on the banks of Killary Fjord. After getting our bearings and some lunch, the girls were off for a kayaking session in the aptly named Fin Lough where a run of salmon jumped and put on a dazzling display. After dinner the girls took on Energizer games in the Adventure Center before a small supper and bed. Reports of girls knick knacking all night, dancing, climbing out of windows and fraternizing with the wonderful @Kildare Town Scout Group will be strongly denied. They slept all night, your Honor. The next day, after an early breakfast our girls took on Archery, Bush Craft, Camp Fire Building, High Wire Assault Course Aerial Trek and Zip Line. The rain tried its best but could not dampen their spirits. A night walk provided a great way to wind down and ready for bed. Which again, I cannot stress enough, was peaceful and quiet and entirely within the rules (more guidelines really) laid out by the Adventure Center. Breakfast and out the door for the best and last event. The BOG CHALLENGE! The sun came out and the midges decided to join in as the girls donned their wet suits and crawled through five hundred yards of foulness I can't even imagine, or maybe I just don't want to. But these princesses took to it and had the best 2 hours crawling, swimming and scrambling over bog, lake and forest proving that there is nothing they can't do. After a long shower the girls set to work returning each other to their normal 5 star appearance. Braids were brode, lashes were lashed and all was put right. A quick lunch and back on the coach to Westport and train home. Big thanks to all the girls who took part in the weekend. You all did us proud.
